HELLO & WELCOME

Crack-A-Story provides material that can help our young people improve their writing, language, and general communications skills. In addition to aligning with the aims of various syllabuses and curriculums, we want to help our young people develop the confidence to find and use their voices through storytelling. We need to listen to them. Also, Crack-A-Story provides resources that encourage our young people to develop a greater awareness and understanding of the world around them. We hope that this site provides a launchpad from which our young people embark on all sorts of journeys of discovery. Crack-A-Story is a place of learning, but it is also a place of helping everyone understand that learning does not stop when we leave the school gates.

The processes of storytelling build skills which are invaluable in everyday life. These include sound literacy practices, communication, and critical and creative thinking. Importantly, a considerable amount of material on this site uses real-life images and sounds to create awareness and a greater understanding of our world. Authenticity is important to Crack-A-Story. We want our young people to dig deep when they are learning and to embrace the worth of communities and the diversity that communities bring. You will also notice that some content focuses on animal and sporting themes; these often provide strong connections for our young people, and can thus help with interest and engagement.

Please look at all sections of this site; you will notice that some resources are applicable to both primary and secondary schools. In addition to the resources provided on this site, we love visiting schools (either in person or online) to conduct workshops, presentations, and long-term projects that can be specifically tailored to suit a school’s requirements. For further information please contact us. Plus, we encourage feedback about this site because we want to make it the very best learning place that we possibly can, and we will always look at ways to improve what we do.
