Planting trees

Hello, here I am again, and I have some very dirty paws because I have been busy planting trees. I like trees. When Bald Boss, Big Boss or Little Boss take me on walks, I stop at trees to smell all the smells. The smells can be so lovely, and they tell me about all the other dogs that have walked past the same trees. I think more humans should stop and smell trees. If they did, I think the world would be a better place.
Well, at least it’s good that Bald Boss, Big Boss, and Little Boss have planted trees in my backyard.
Have you ever planted a tree? This is what happens. Dig a hole. (I loooooooove digging holes!). Then, you fill the hole with water. Then once the water soaks into the soil, you put food for the tree in the hole. Then you sneak up and take one of Big Boss’s gloves and play chasies with Big Boss. Then you feel sorry for Big Boss because she can’t catch you, so you drop the glove. Then you put the tree (only a baby tree) in the hole. Then you fill in the hole with the soil that you took out of the hole when you dug the hole. Does that all make sense? That’s a whole lot of holes, isn’t it? Then you water the tree. And then you plant another tree and another tree and another tree and…do you get the idea? And then you wait for Little Boss to spray you with water to make you feel all soaked and shaggy. Then you shake the water that’s in your hair until it flies out of your hair and goes all over Big Boss’s legs. Then Big Boss shouts: ‘Roger!!!!’ I’m so happy she knows my name. Isn’t she nice? Then you wait for Big Boss to say: ‘Roger, don’t go near those trees and dig any holes.’ But that is very confusing because trees need holes, don’t they? I mean, you can’t plant a tree without a hole, can you? Anyway, I have been very good, and I have only dug holes near the swingy thingy. (It isn’t a tree, but Bald Boss says someone must have dug a hole to have planted it.)
Now, we are waiting for the trees to grow. And then maybe we’ll invite other dogs into my backyard to leave their smells. Aaah, the world needs smells, and trees and holes to dig.
I’m tired.
I need a sleep.
Wags from afar,
Roger.
This is me with Big Boss’s glove. The swingy thingy is behind me.
